Occasionaly our family will decide to eat here for very specific reasons and to be fair its not because we are craving italian... 1. The cheesesticks are complimentary and tasty (unfortunately they seem to deteriorate in quality everytime we return) ... 2 the breaded veal with mushroom sauce... I admit there are some very unusual flavor combinations but for some reason they do it for me... I order this with their fetticini alfredo which has an odd color, texture and different flavor than your traditional alfredo. I find these food items interesting enough to spark a seasonal visit but not a frequent diner card by any means.

I think the previous reviewers were a bit too harsh on this place. I found Chef Tom's to be a decent spot for an Italian dinner. They have some pretty awesome combos (pasta + mini pizza) on the cheap! They carry a tasty vegetarian lasagna and I've also enjoyed their manicotti dish. You get garlic bread with your meal. You might be surprised by how much food you get with the combos, and I think they're under $10. Not bad.

While the food is awesome...you have to watch for HAIR in your food! In the last year we have had two, yes two experiences with HAIR in our food! We thought we would give it one more try last night and guess what?!?! There was another stinking hair in my daughters salad, we told our waitress and she brought out another salad! Not even sure how to feel about it - just really discouraged that it was not even the slightest issue for them!

Hmmmm... Not good! Spaghetti Factory is 2 minutes away. Go there instead. Chef Tom's food is greasy, bland, often cold, not fresh, greasy, uninspired and lacking originality and uniqueness. Don't waste your time or money.

I had driven past Chef Tom's for over a week, thinking I should try a local Italian eatery, before I finally made the decision to stop in for dinner. I should have continued driving, rather than waste my time, money, and appetite. The place is nice enough as a family style restaurant, replete with an AYCE buffet. I opted to order off the menu, and it was equally split between pasta choices and pizzas. I asked the very helpful waitress which of the two they were better known for, and she said neither. I asked for a recommendation on pasta, and she recommended anything other than the spaghetti - only because she was partial to her own mother's. That being said, I ordered the fettuccine with clams (11.99). When it arrived, the plate was overflowing with slightly overcooked fettuccine, smothered in ... well ... what was it? The colour was tan, not creamy, and it had an overpowering smell that reminded me of condensed cream of chicken soup. Seriously? The taste was quite similar to condensed cream of chicken soup as well. I ate some, picking around to find the clams - which were far and few between - and they were rather tasteless. Actually, they tasted like something one would find in condensed cream of chicken soup. I had a few forks full, then pushed the platter away and ate the Wonder bread moonlighting as garlic toast. Try as I might, every time I dipped my fork into the pasta I couldn't get my head around the smell emanating from the platter - which was unfortunate, since I left hungry. What happened? I don't know. The sauce was neither classic white clam sauce nor condensed cream of chicken soup. It was a freakish bastardization of the two. My eyes devoured the meal, but unfortunately, my mouth wouldn't accommodate their enthusiasm.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
